Tracy Summerfield, a Manchester mother, received shocking news when she discovered she had skin cancer three years after noticing a small spot inside her nostril. Initially dismissed by her doctor as an infection, the spot continued to grow, eventually spreading to her upper lip. In 2018, Tracy sought further medical attention and received a devastating diagnosis – a cancerous tumor in her nose. The tumor, 2cm by 3cm in size, had also spread to the skin on her upper lip. Tracy faced the prospect of surgery that would leave her face disfigured. With immense courage, Tracy proposed to her partner, Colin, and they decided to get married in Barbados. She underwent surgery to remove the cancer, leaving her with significant scars and a new appearance.
Tracy’s journey to acceptance was challenging, but with the help of a charity that provided makeovers for cancer survivors, she learned to conceal her scars. On her wedding day, she felt confident and beautiful, walking down the aisle with Colin by her side. Today, Tracy embraces her scars as symbols of her resilience and the challenges she has overcome. Despite everything, she cherishes her life and the love of her family.
