Gibson Miller, a 24-year-old teacher in New York City, recently discovered that what she thought was a pimple under her left eye was actually stage 1 basal cell carcinoma, a form of skin cancer. After noticing the spot for three years, she finally sought medical advice. A biopsy confirmed the diagnosis. She underwent Mohs surgery and has since been declared cancer-free. Miller is now advocating for sun safety, emphasizing the importance of sunscreen with her motto: “Sunscreen is sexy.”
